Experimental Design and Construction, Simple Construction Methods and Sustainable Systems
Nils is a founding partner of CITYFÖRSTER architecture + urbanism and managing partner of the office in Hannover. Experimental planning and construction, simple construction methods and sustainable systems, such as solid wood structures, and construction in existing contexts are his main areas of focus. Nils develops projects with a holistic and solution-oriented approach – from concept to built reality.
Nils Nolting studied architecture at Leibniz University Hannover and the Arkitekthøgskolen Oslo. He has won numerous awards in international and national competitions and subsequently realized many of the schemes. For the Residential Crown project, Nils Nolting and Arne Hansen were awarded the "max 45" young talent award in 2017 from the BDA in Lower Saxony.
Nils sees a key to ecological construction in simplicity and reduction and in minimizing gray (embodied) energy in the production of buildings. The continued use and transformation of existing structures is particularly important in this regard.
He is especially interested in pursuing design from concept to detail. With the implementation of new, ecological methods of construction or the use of recycled building materials and recyclable constructions, he wants CITYFÖRSTER to help to make society fit for the future.
