M.Sc. architecture

Ivan is a project architect at CITYFÖRSTER architecture + urbanism, based in the Rotterdam office. He specializes in sustainable architecture, building transformation, and resilient design strategies, with a strong focus on adaptive reuse and context-driven development.

Ivan holds a Master's degree in Sustainable Architecture from KU Leuven (2017) and a specialist Master of Architecture with a focus on building reconstruction (2013). During his graduate studies, he completed an exchange semester at the University of Stuttgart, where he studied in the design studio led by Carmody Groarke. His master's thesis explored resilient growth strategies for the former Wagenhallen railway area in Stuttgart, proposing an experimental economic model to support artists and alternative cultural production as a driver for urban regeneration.

Following his graduation, Ivan relocated to the Netherlands, where he gained extensive experience working on international architectural and urban development projects. He has collaborated with leading Dutch practices including Mei architects and planners, Orange Architects, and LEVS architecten. His project experience includes work on the Jonas residential development in Amsterdam, awarded BNA Building of the Year 2023, as well as a range of projects in the Netherlands and abroad.

In addition to his professional practice, Ivan has contributed to architectural education and discourse as an invited jury member at the March School in Moscow. Parallel to his architectural work, he is an active member of the artist collective Buro 5537, where he engages in the design and realization of spatial installations and small-scale architectural objects, further enriching his interdisciplinary and experimental approach to the built environment.
