Inspired by her childhood in a lakeside home, Mary Lou shaped her passion for the connection between water, natural light, and human experience. This deeply influenced her design approach, which prioritizes the creation of sensory-rich environments that engage users at eye level. Her vision on architecture is that the experience in a building precedes its function. This philosophy guided her Master's Thesis of the adaptive reuse of shared heritage and passive climate systems in Bandung, Indonesia. With her Master's Thesis, she won both a national and international prize.
Mary Lou has graduated as Master of Science in Architecture at the TU Delft and studied at the TU Berlin.
