This project includes a detailed analysis of infrastructure gaps and the preparation of a strategic action plan for two pilot sites in Georgia: Samshvilde in Kvemo Kartli and Pikalebi in Kakheti. Samshvilde is
known for its archaeological and cultural heritage, while Pikalebi serves as a historical gateway to Kakheti.
The plan aims to develop the tourism potential of these areas, minimise negative impacts and promote the involvement of stakeholders and the local population. It also includes
budgetary estimates for the necessary public investments in both locations.
The main tasks of the project include assessing public infrastructure, reviewing social and environmental impacts and engaging local stakeholders. The report
highlights challenges and opportunities for the development of both sites and underlines the importance of strategic planning with community involvement.
In Samshvilde, the focus is on improving roads, drinking water and sewage systems. For Pikalebi, the report proposes a development concept based on the "Albergo Diffuso" ("dispersed
hotel") model. This is intended to preserve the natural beauty of the area and integrate the hotel infrastructure harmoniously into the surroundings.
The action plan aims to transform Samshvilde and Pikalebi into vibrant and sustainable tourist destinations, while protecting the cultural and natural heritage of these places for future generations.
