Catharina studied landscape architecture for her bachelor's degree and is currently an intern in the urban planning team at Cityförster in Hanover. She is looking forward to gaining new insights into projects on a large scale and transferring her knowledge of landscape architecture to urban planning.
At the end of her studies, she focused on sociological topics of spatial planning, especially feminist urban planning and gender-sensitive open space planning. The needs of marginalized groups and inclusive urban planning are particularly important here. Her focus on gender-sensitive open space planning stems from the conviction that public spaces must be usable and safe for everyone, regardless of gender, age or social background.
She believes that an interdisciplinary approach to urban planning, sociology, architecture and landscape architecture is key to ensuring that urban living spaces are more sustainable, fairer and more liveable.
